Press Here
Press Here by Herve Tullet is an amazing book that works well both one-on-one as well as with a group. I actually used this book for a story time with some trepidation, worrying if all the toddlers would rush towards me wanting to “press here.” But instead, we got a wonderfully interactive story time with the kids who were held captive by the power of “pressing here.”
The idea is so simple and yet so fun! The first page of the story is a white background with a yellow dot and the directions to, “Press here and turn the page.” When the page turns, you find an identical yellow dot next to the first with more instructions. Each page brings a new surprise with more instructions until you circle back to the beginning with one yellow dot in the middle of a white background.
This is an engaging book for toddlers and preschoolers and could even be used with elementary age children who could mimic they style to create their own Press Here book.
And if you love the book as much as I did, there is also a Press Here app available for iPad. I’m not a huge fan of using so much technology with very young children, but this app can be used by children of all ages.
