Prairie Evers

Prairie Evers is a ten-year old girl who has been homeschooled by her grandmother until the family moves to upstate New York and her parents decide it’s time she goes to public school to be around children her own age.  Prairie is content to stay at home on the farm and take care of her very own chickens.  But when she goes to school, she befriends another outcast, Ivy, and learns a lot about being a good friend.

This story is filled with some amazing characters like Prairie, Ivy, and Prairie’s grandmother.  The characters are very realistic filled with wisdom and perspective.  Even though the setting of this story may be different from how many girls grow-up the friendship theme is one that everyone can relate to.  This is a great story about the bonds of friendship and the importance of being a good friend.

And while we’re talking about chickens and on a broader spectrum birds… I have finally joined the ranks of Twitter.  So follow me @literacious or send me a comment so I can follow you!
