Whoooo’s at Storytime?
This week’s toddler storytime theme was owls! We learned the sign language word for owl (the same motion is used for binoculars as well!) and we read three owl-themed stories.
The first story was called Cock-A-Doodle-HOOOOOO! by Mick Manning about an owl who walks into a henhouse on a rainy evening and learns how to be a rooster! It’s an adorable story about being true to yourself and learning new things.
The second story was called I’m Not Scared! by Jonathan Allen. This is a story about a baby owl who goes out for a night-time walk. But, he keeps being frightened by the animals in the forest. His papa shows up to take him home and let’s him know it’s okay to be scared sometimes. Jonathan Allen has also written a few other books with the same baby owl – so check them out as well!
And my favorite book this week was called Wow! Said the Owl by Tim Hopgood. This story is about a little owl who stays up all day and sees all of the fabulous colors in the sunshine, but realizes that the stars twinkling in the night are the most beautiful of all!
