The Fault in Our Stars

The Fault in Our Stars written by John Green is one of those books you pick and you know that no matter what there will a point in the story that you will cry.  Personally, I dislike sad books… I hate crying while I’m reading, but The Fault in Our Stars was so well written that there were times that I couldn’t put it done and the world that John Green created was very real to me.  One of my favorite books is No More Dead Dogs by Gordon Korman because it’s about a boy who is tired of reading books for school in which the dog always dies, think Where the Red Fern Grows.

I really don’t want to give anything away because the story is beautifully written.  But this is the description take directly from the book “Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.”

The characters are well-developed and as I said you know it’s a crying book, but that doesn’t detract from the plot.  There is love, adventure, world travel, and heartbreak throughout the story and even though it left me with tears in my eyes while riding the subway, I was very impressed by the story and very glad I had read it.
