World Book Night

I’ll be honest, before just a few minutes ago, I have never heard of World Book Night, but it looks like an amazing event.  The USA Today wrote an article about the event that you can find here.

Basically, thirty books have been selected by librarians, publishers, and booksellers to be given away – mostly popular books that vary in reading level.  Cities around the country are coming up with fun and interesting ways to give away free books!  From bars to therapy dogs and beyond, 1 million books are being given away for free across America.

The best part is that the cost of the paperback copies is being underwritten by the publishers and all of the authors are waiving their royalties for the event!  What a great way to encourage literacy in a time when it’s needed more than ever!
