Beastly

I have to begin this post by stating that I am mildly obsessed with all things Beauty and the Beast.  I absolutely love the Disney movie, so much so that my boyfriend finally got it for me on Blu-Ray.  Belle is my favorite Disney princess of all time – I always tell the little girls at my library that Belle is my favorite because the Beast gives her an entire library!

I had seen a lot about the book, Beastly, when the movie came out last year, but I didn’t get a chance to read the book by Alex Flinn until this week.  I absolutely loved it!  The book is a modern interpretation of the Beauty and the Beast story based in New York City.  Kyle Kingsbury gets turned into a beast by a girl/witch in his English class and his father who has always taught Kyle that money can buy anything moves Kyle to Brooklyn where he becomes a prisoner of his beastly form.  Beastly includes most of the things that make the Disney story great – interesting servants/teachers, roses, a library, and of course a love story.  The kind of love story that girls dream about!

This was a super-fast read that I truly enjoyed!  The movie didn’t get very good reviews, but I’m hoping I can get a chance to see it anyway – maybe sometime this weekend.
