The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

I have been waiting for December 1st to be able to post this book.  This has got to be one of my all time favorite Christmas stories – The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by, Barbara Robinson.  This story was published in 1972 and it shows if you read it now, but it is still one of the most hilarious and touching Christmas stories around.

The story is narrated by a young girl whose mother gets put in charge of the annual Christmas pageant at church.  And all six of the Herdmans who are the worst kids in town, decide that this year, they want to be in the Christmas pageant as well.  To make a long story short, as they say, the Herdmans create loads of chaos that results in a beautifully touching, and heartwarming Christmas pageant in the end.  If you haven’t gotten around to reading this one, pick it up at your local library this holiday season!
