Sparrow Road
Sparrow Road is a story of mystery, of intrigue, of interesting characters, and of connecting to a world that is not your own, or better yet can become a part of your own. Sheila O’Connor’s characters in Sparrow Road are the type of people I would love to spend time with – artists who each have their own stories to tell.
Raine O’Rourke’s mother drags her to a dilapidated mansion far away from her grandfather and her home in Milwaukee for one very long summer without so much as an explanation. When Raine arrives she learns about the “No Talking Until Dinner” rule and of the unique and interesting artists living on Sparrow Road for the summer. Raine learns about the father she never met, the orphans who lived in the mansion many years ago, and more about herself than she ever thought.
This is a beautifully written coming of age story about a young girl searching to find herself.
