AtoZ Blogging Challenge – Stress

2017atozDuring the month of April, I’ll be participating in the 2017 Blogging from A to Z Challenge. For this year’s theme, I chose to look at leadership qualities as I’ve just recently (within the past 6 months) become the director of my public library. We have about 50 staff members, most of whom are part-time employees serving a 30,000 resident community by providing high-quality programs and resources. Each day, I’ll look at one trait and how it’s helped me to become a better director.

Another apropos post for this weekend – after 4.5 months of weeding the library’s collection of materials and countless hours boxing up books and even more countless boxes being stored in my office – we are officially have our used book sale this weekend! This is our first major book sale and hopefully (fingers crossed) a huge fundraiser for us! So, as the director leading the charge on the weeding initiative and deciding to spend a little extra man power on a book sale – I’m a little stressed to say the least! Although, for being in the position for less than a year, it feels pretty good to have completed the weeding part of this project and to (in a few days) complete the fundraising part too!

So after all the stress and long hours this weekend, what am I going to do to relax? An answer that most likely doesn’t surprise you – dive into a great book and emerge ready to take on the world, or at least my world, the library!
